We all feed ourselves, our families, and even our pets—but before you "feed" your garbage disposal, think twice! While foods like eggs, potatoes, celery, and peaches are packed with nutrients, their skins and shells contain tough fibers that can wreak havoc on your disposal. Instead, try peeling fruits and veggies into a designated bowl and dispose of them in the trash or compost. Eggshells, in particular, can harden in your pipes, causing stubborn blockages. Avoid tossing fibrous materials, pits, stems, or seeds down the drain, and never pour animal fat or grease, as they solidify and clog your pipes. And remember—silverware belongs in the drawer, not the disposal!
